Eleanor Margaret Tompkins

Eleanor Margaret Tompkins, 88, of Washington, died Sunday, March 14, 2010. She was born August 11, 1921, in Greene County, a daughter of Lawrence and Mabel Ewing Rush. Mrs. Tompkins worked at Templeton’s Drug Store and at Pence’s Card Shop. She was a member of Grace Bible Church. Mrs. Tompkins enjoyed helping others and taking care of her family. Surviving are two sons, William Lynn Tompkins of Florida, and James Larry Tompkins of Monaca; four brothers, Lawrence “Babe” Rush of Avella, Reed Rush of Washington, Gary Rush of Tennessee, and Duane Rush of South Carolina; a sister, Geraldine Baker of Minnesota; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Deceased are her husband, William; and a sister, Shirley McDaid. Friends will be received 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be held at Noon, Thursday, March 18th in Grace Bible Church, with Rev. Steve Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Independence Cemetery.
