Relmond Racleigh “Ray” Leeland, 82, of Canonsburg, died Friday, March 12, 2010, following a five-year illness.
He was born October 12, 1927 in Washington, D.C., a son of Mary Virginia Byram.
During World War II, Mr. Leeland served in the United States Navy for 3 years. He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1947, as a Storekeeper, third class.
Mr. Leeland worked in the U.S. Government Printing Office for 30+ years.
He was active in his church in Virginia, and, after relocating to Pennsylvania, was a member of Central Assembly of God Church in Houston. Mr. Leeland enjoyed gardening and oil painting.
On October 10, 1951, he married Ramona M. Leonard, who died March 31, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Rene, and son-in-law, Paul Voelker, of Canonsburg, with whom he resided; and a granddaughter, Valerie Voelker.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Ramona D. Leeland; and a sister, Norma Plass.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Funeral services will be private followed by burial in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
