Rose Karns, 91, of Washington, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Southmont, Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born November 27, 1918, in Midway, a daughter of Peter and Dominica Crea Sergi. She had worked at the Military Post at Oakdale and at Western Center. Mrs. Karns was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Washington. Mrs. Karns was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Marines in Pearl Harbor, Parris Island and Camp Lejeune. In 1947, she married Charles Edward Karns, Jr., who died in 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Rose Karns Marshman, of Canonsburg, and a brother, William Sergi, of Midway, PA. Deceased are 4 sisters, Fay Williamson, Helene Pomrenke, Theresa Wilson and Marie Clark. Private services were held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, with the Rev. Dr. L. Stephen Smith Jr. officiating. Private interment followed at Forest Lawn Gardens.
