John Douglas Colvin, 54, of Washington, died on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Washington Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
He was born on August 28, 1955, in Washington, a son of the late William A. and Marie E. Hall Colvin.
Mr. Colvin had served with the U.S. Navy, from December 28, 1973, until his honorable discharge on March 21, 1975. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
John had worked as a cashier at a Dairy Mart, and was a member of Friendship Community Church.
He enjoyed watching wrestling on television, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and the outdoors. He also loved sports, especially football and baseball.
On January 31, 1977, he married Betty Romaine Plumley, who survives.
Also surviving are his stepfather, Paul L. Allen; a son, William A. Colvin, of Pittsburgh, 4 brothers, Michael L. (Mindy) Allen, of West Alexander; Paul L. (Sherry) Allen, of Washington; Sonny M. Brown, of San Antonio, TX and Jay Ringer, of Ruff Creek, PA; and 2 sisters, Mary Ann Newman, of West Alexander and Sandra (Micky) Ardeno, of Ruff Creek, PA.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is his grandmother, Georgia Crouser.
At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation or services.
