Curtis Eugene “Gene” Havener, Jr., 75, of Washington, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a two-year illness.
He was born January 5, 1935, in Washington, a son of Curtis and Elizabeth Favorite Havener.
A graduate of Washington High School, Mr. Havener served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on December 31, 1963.
In 1997, he retired from West Penn Power, where he had worked as a truck mechanic.
Mr. Havener loved woodworking and traveling and doing yard work and mechanical jobs.
He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia L. Amos Havener; two daughters, Keely (Marty) Keane of Highland, California, and Candice (Jim) Yuchasz of Livonia, Michigan; a sister, Betty Veltre of Washington; three grandchildren, Ashley, Tighe and Logan Keane; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Eddie Havener.
There will be no public visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty-Four, PA 15330. William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., is in charge of arrangements.
