Mary Jane Harris Pressley Myers, 89, of Cross Creek, Washington County, went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 8, 2010, in her home.
She was born June 8, 1920, in Wolf Mountain, NC, a daughter of the late James and Kate Reese Harris.
Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity Bible Fellowship, in Washington.
She had been employed for a number of years by Presbyterian Senior Care, in Washington, prior to her retirement, and enjoyed caring for others, traveling, cooking and reading.
On August 14, 1937, she married her first husband, Daniel C. Pressley, who passed away in November 1969, after over thirty-two years of marriage.
Surviving are her only daughter, Dorothy, wife of Richard L. Ross; three granddaughters, Rhonda Del Rio, Karen Cukryznski (Ted), and Terri Swartz (Doug); nine great grandchildren, Zachary and Micah Del Rio, Nathan Cukryznski (Amanda), Rachel Cukryznski Engle (Brian), Daniel Cukryznski (Stefani), and Ben Cukryznski, Sarah, Rebecca and Joshua Swartz; and two great-great grandchildren, Elijah Cukryznski and Emily Engle.
Also surviving are five brothers, James Harris (Ellen), Herbert Harris (Martha), Paul Harris (Ann), George Harris (Geraldine), and Wendell Harris (Mary); and a sister-in-law, Callie Harris, wife of John Harris (deceased brother). Deceased are two additional brothers, Floyd and Curtis Harris. All brothers are residents of South Carolina. Surviving, in addition, are a number of nieces and nephews in the above families.
In October 1978, she married Edgar L. Myers, of Bentleyville. They lived on a farm near Bentleyville until Edgar passed away in April, 1993, following fifteen years of marriage. Surviving from this marriage are two stepdaughters, Carol Myers, of Kent, Ohio and Mona Heyer (Michael), of Dillsburg; a step granddaughter, Monica Myers and a step great granddaughter and great grandson, Mary and Patrick Gilbert, also of Kent, Ohio.
Friends will be received 2 to 5 Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Monday, January 11, 2010, in Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington, with her pastor, Robert Turrill, of the Trinity Bible Fellowship, and her grandson, Pastor Ted Cukryznski, Executive Director of Youth For Christ, co-officiating.
Interment will be in Washington Cemetery. There will be no service at the gravesite.
