Beloved aunt.
Stella Ann Clemens, 94, of Washington, died Sunday, January 10, 2010, in Washington Hospital. She was born June 4, 1915, in Canton Township, a daughter of Michael and Anna Kocia Spence. Mrs. Clemens was a floor supervisor at G.C. Murphy Co. for 32 years. She was Protestant. Mrs. Clemens enjoyed her family, cooking, baking and gardening. On November 23, 1938, she married James H. Clemens, who died January 15, 1993. Surviving are a nephew, David (Donna) Gorby of Washington; two nieces, Sandy Hinerman of Washington and Susan (Ron) Battaglia of Chicago, Ill.; four great-nephews, Jeff (Carlen) Capenos of Maryland, Brian (Theresa) Gorby of Georgia, Scott Hinerman of Washington and Nicholas Battaglia of Chicago; a niece, Jodie (Chris) Shrontz of Washington; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Deceased are a brother, Frank Spence, and three sisters, Nellie Gorby, Josephine Wozniak and Antoinette Spence, who died in infancy. She was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 14, in Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Washington Area Humane Society, 1527 State Route 136, Eighty Four, PA 15330.
