Erwin E. Campbell, 82, of Washington, died unexpectedly, Monday, May 17, 2010, in his home. He was born February 3, 1928, in Dorseyville, where he resided until 1967, a son of Erwin R. and Alda Baumgartel Campbell. Mr. Campbell was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. He worked as a tool grinder in the machine shop of Superior Valve for over thirty-five years. Mr. Campbell was a member of Living Stone Community Church and a former member of Grace Brethren Church. He read his Bible each night. Mr. Campbell enjoyed gardening and yard work, hunting, fishing, and spending winters in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. On November 18, 1949, he married Mary Pearl Garrard, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Randy Scott, and a daughter, Susan Lynn Corbin, both of Washington; a brother, William Ross, of Dorseyville; and eight grandchildren, Neil, Jamie, Matthew, Kirsten, Jonathan, Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Nicole. Deceased are a son, James Ross, Sr., a grandson, James Ross, Jr., three brothers, Harold Trautman, John Campbell, and Chuck Campbell, and an infant sister. Friends will be received 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Church of Christ, 700 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Paul Harrington officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
