Elizabeth Ann Haynes

Elizabeth Ann (Hartman) Haynes, 83, of Washington, passed away Tuesday May 18, 2010, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on March 16, 1927, in Roanoke, VA, a daughter of Robert Luther and Marvel Louise Braithwaite Hartman. Mrs. Haynes was originally from Roanoke, Virginia where she grew up, and graduated from nursing school. She was a homemaker, however, she was also a Registered Nurse, who worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in the 1950’s. She nursed though the last two polio epidemics in the United States. She loved African Violets. On December 26, 1952, she married William Richard Haynes, who died on September 15, 1983. Mrs. Haynes is survived by a large loving family including her children: Sally A. and David Robertson, of Washington; William R. Haynes, Jr and his fiancée Donna of Washington; Mary E. and Randy Beans of West Chester, PA; and John D. and Susan Haynes of Honey Brook, PA. Her grandchildren include: Heather Robertson and her fiancée David Redka of Washington; Jennifer Beans of King of Prussia, PA; Emma Robertson of Union, KY; Brian Beans of West Chester, PA. John Haynes of West Chester, PA; Rashell Haynes of Shippensburg, PA; Kaitlin Robertson of Union, KY, and Maricela Santos Beans of West Chester, PA. Elizabeth loved spending time with her great-grandsons Bryon and Matthew Rardin of Washington, and Seth Santos Beans of West Chester. Additionally, Elizabeth is survived by her brother Robert B. Hartman of Roanoke, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Deceased are 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Friends will be received on Friday from 11 to 1 p.m., at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 395 East Maiden St., Washington, PA, where services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., with Sister Nancy Barshick of Albert Gallatin Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to Albert Gallatin Hospice; 2215 Hill Church Houston # 1A, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
