Josephine Hughes

Josephine “Sophie” Hughes, 94, of Washington, died Friday, October 1, 2010, in the home of her son, in Belpre, Ohio. She was born June 18, 1916, in Willock, Pa, a daughter of Frank and Josephine Ostrich Mastnock. She attended Washington High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hughes attended Fairhill Manor Christian Church, in Washington, and was a former member of Washington Women’s AGLOW. On June 19, 1937, she married Herbert Floyd “Flood” Hughes, who died November 28, 1982. Surviving are a son, Thomas F. (Diane) Hughes, of Belpre, Ohio; three grandchildren, Aaron Hughes, Jennifer Holsinger, and Alan Hughes; and three great grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Ronald H. Hughes, a daughter, Carol June Hughes, a brother, Frank Mastnock, and three sisters, Monica Troha, Elizabeth Evans and Mary Cregut. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery
