Member of First Presbyterian Church
Marion Elizabeth Marietta, 84, of Washington, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 6, 2010, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
She was born December 27, 1925, in Rochester, a daughter of John H. and Elsie VanVolkenburg Smith.
Mrs. Marietta was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church in Washington.
She formerly lived in Beaver Borough, Bellevue (Pittsburgh), New York and Florida.
Her husband, Dr. Leslie H. Marietta, Ph.D, died June 21, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Larry H. Marietta of San Francisco, Calif., and Mark L. (Janet) Marietta of Washington; a daughter, Debbie (David) Buetzow of Canonsburg; a sister, Priscilla Flanagan of Fort Myers, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Maurie (Leighton) Deer, Kim Buetzow and John Marietta and Karen Marietta; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Deer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 9, in First Presbyterian Church, Washington, with the Rev. L. Stephen Smith Jr. officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Beaver Cemetery, 351 Buffalo Street, Beaver, followed by a committal service at 2:30 p.m.
