Thomas M. Hildreth

Thomas M. Hildreth, 86, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010, in Donnell House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 27, 1924, in Columbus, Georgia, a son of the late Thomas M. Hildreth, Sr., and Pauline Harrell Hildreth. Mr. Hildreth enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17. He was an Aviation Machinist’s Mate, second class, and served at air bases in Deland, Florida and Trinidad. Mr. Hildreth was employed by Washington Mould and Machine Co. for 20 years and retired from RCA in 1984. He also worked part-time for several years for Hadanich Machine. Mr. Hildreth was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and Washington Amateur Radio Club. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Sarah McFall Hildreth, whom he married April 13, 1946, in DeLand, Florida. Also surviving are two daughters, Judy Leichty and Paula J. Jones, both of Washington; a sister, Pauline Smith of Macon, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jackie (Chad) Newman, Julie Havanis and Joshua Jones; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Newman, Ethan Newman, Forrest Havanis and Gibson Havanis; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, Charles “Hildy” Hildreth; and a brother, Paul. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 27th, with Pastor Alice Curry officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Fourth Presbyterian Ladies Aide Society, 1000 Jefferson Avenue, Washington PA 15301.
