Muriel Laura Brown Clark, 84, of Bentleyville, passed away December 2, 2010 at Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care.
She had been hospitalized since August 8th 2010 and had suffered from complications from surgery until her death.
Muriel was born in St. Stephen New Brunswick, Canada, on April 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Ira Frank Brown and Gertrude Mabel Hewitt.
She graduated from Darien High School in Darien, CT., and married Herbert Warren Clark on July 6th 1946 then was a part-time bookkeeper and full-time Mother.
She raised her family in Norwalk Ct. until 1980. After retiring she and her husband moved to St. Stephen, New Brunswick where her family roots originated. Following her husband's death she lived in Calais Me. from 1986 to 1999.
While living in Calais she was an active member of the Calais United Methodist Church. Some of her favorite memories were of playing the organ at Christmas time.
Simply stated she will always be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was very close with her family and enjoyed the wonderful things that being together brought.
Muriel was very proud of her long family lineage in the St. Stephen NB and Calais, Me. area, which dates back over 140 years. Throughout her life she taught her children and grand children about our family roots.
She was a breast cancer survivor and advocated for breast cancer causes.
She traveled fearlessly with a favorite destination of Prince Edward Island and loved having her family in the car with her while on her adventures up and down the East Coast. She loved camping with her family, bird watching, baking and decking - there will be many happy memories of these times spent with her.
Surviving are 3 children, a daughter Laura Gail Brown of Venetia, PA, a son, Herbert Warren Clark Jr. of South Carolina, and a daughter, Elaine Mabel Simpson of Bentleyville, PA.
She had the greatest gift of 10 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are 10 brothers and sisters.
Being the last child in a family of 11 there are many family members who will always remember and miss her.
In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at home, followed by a short graveside ceremony at Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
By knowing Muriel your life was enriched, she showed us the love of God and how to respect one another.
