Dixie Farist Kelley, 90, of Washington, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born May 17, 1920, in Clendenin, West Virginia, a daughter of Mack and Onie Jet Naylor.
Mrs. Kelley was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts, knitting, baking, singing in church, and her grandchildren.
She was a member of New Life Tabernacle.
On December 25, 1948, she married Edward Martin Kelley, Sr., who died February 18, 2003.
Surviving are seven children, Shirley Travers of Old Town, Florida, Ronald McCartney of Kansas City, Kansas, Wayne McCartney of Washington, Edward Kelley, Jr., of Ashland, Ohio, and Jim Kelley, Tom Kelley and Roger Kelley, all of Washington; five brothers, Homer Naylor of Washington, Woodrow Naylor of Looneyville, West Virginia, Jimmy Naylor of Akron, Ohio, Arnold Naylor of Jefferson and Norman Naylor of Sarasota, Florida; 37 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Deceased are three sons, Carl, Robert and Paul McCartney; a daughter, Joyce Kelley; six sisters, Laro Nida, Ochel Henderson, Opal Naylor, Maxine Nevis, Elsie Fowler, and Laura Kelley; and three brothers, Herman, Ray and Richard Naylor.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 3rd, with Pastor Edward Kelley, Jr., son of the deceased, and Pastor Rick Bruckner co-officiating. Burial will follow in North Buffalo Cemetery.
