John Mitchell

August 16, 1924 — December 29, 2006

John Mitchell, 82, of Washington, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2006, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a one-year illness. He was born August 16, 1924, in Manifold, a son of John and Annie Hertzog Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was employed as a tow motor operator at Ball Glass. He was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. On December 26, 1942, he married Alice Victoria Cook, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Thomas (Nancy) Mitchell; two daughters, Sandra Jean (Joseph) Hello and Brenda (Nick) Cecil, all of Washington; six grandchildren, Tammy Amon, Joseph Jason Hello, Stephanie Blasch, Thomas Troy Mitchell, Jennifer Berteotti and Julie Berteotti; and 17 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Leonard Rick Mitchell; four brothers, George, Lloyd, Louis and Henry Mitchell; and two sisters, Eliza Myers and Gertrude Pugh. Friends will be received 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 1, 2007, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, with Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
