Kimberly Denise Lightfoot, 51, of Washington, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Washington on November 20, 1958, a daughter of Willetta J. Lightfoot and the late Philander Lightfoot.
A Washington High School graduate, she majored in biology at Davis and Elkins College and Slippery Rock University. Later in life she graduated from Penn Commercial as a medical assistant.
A long-time Penn DOT employee, at the time of her illness, she was employed at Holy Family Institute and as a home care worker with TRIPIL.
A lover of life, Ms. Lightfoot had many interests. An avid reader, be it books, magazine or newspapers, she had a diverse taste in music and arts, and most precious were all things Steelers. She loved to ski and often was seen walking all over town.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Aaron Victor Lightfoot of Washington; aunts, Jacqueline Wilson of Buffalo, New York, Cynthia Wilson of Harrisburg, and Gracie Lightfoot of Pittsburgh; an uncle, Gerald (Karen) Wilson of Washington; niece Mckenzie Lightfoot; nephew, Desmond Lightfoot, both of Washington; great aunts Ella Mae Parham of Buffalo, New York, Evelyn Cheatam of Belle Vernon and Dolores Lacey of Washington; a host of cousins and friends; and long-time friend, Paul Fields of Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
A gathering of friends will be held on Monday, July 12th, from Noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Arthur Doctor officiating.
