Lois G. Walker Bailey, 93, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, in her residence.
She was born December 17, 1916, in Spraggs, a daughter of Frances Irving HIllberry and Minerva Jane Myers Hillberry.
Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Trinity High School. She was a homemaker and had worked as a packing supervisor at Albert’s Packing Company for 12 years.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Washington, Rebecca’s Lodge and a lifetime member and chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. She volunteered at the Washington Hospital for 20 years and at the Senior Citizens Center for 20 years.
Mrs. Bailey loved to play bingo and be with her cat, Tiger.
In 1972, she married Lawrence W. Bailey, who died in 1981.
Surviving are a son, M. Duane (Donna) Walker of Hickory; a daughter, Donna J. Walker Boswell of Washington; five grandchildren, Rick Boswell, Kristi Boswell, Shawn Walker, Nikki Walker Grimes and Erin Walker; and seven great-grandchildren, Rick, Rayner, Cori, Steven, Nathan, Megan and Holden.
Deceased are her first husband, M. Jay Walker; a brother, Berl Hillberry; and three sisters, Bernice Rasel, Mildred Hull and Hazel Grimes.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, July 24th, with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
