Susan Marie Butcher, 49, of Independence Township, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born September 11, 1960, in Washington, a daughter of the late Chester and Mae Belle Potts Lonick.
Mrs. Butcher worked in the accounting department of Copperweld Corporation for 24 years. She enjoyed reading, spending time with family, and visiting amusement parks and casinos.
Mrs. Butcher was involved in the Avella Eagle Connection where she worked on the school yearbook and volunteered in the office. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend -- the best mom in the world to Alexa and Joshua and a good friend to all who knew her. She will be missed by her family and many friends, including Frank Kosarik and Joe Charnik.
Mrs. Butcher was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Avella.
On May 10, 1980, she married Glenn Butcher, Jr., who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Alexa Sue Butcher and Joshua Glenn Butcher, both at home; two brothers, John Lonick of Simmes Port, Louisiana, and David Lonick of Avella; and a sister, Karen Painter of Washington.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24th, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Avella, with Father Pierre Sodini as celebrant. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
