David Elmer Nuzum, 63, of Washington, died Thursday, July 22, 2010, in his residence. He had been in declining health.
He was born May 13, 1947, a son of Merle E. and Clara A. Goslin Nuzum.
Mr. Nuzum was a graduate of Washington High School and worked at United States Steel Irwin Works for 30 years.
He enjoyed playing chess, mixing music and being a deejay.
Mr. Nuzum was a veteran of the Army, serving from December 10, 1968, until his honorable discharge on August 6, 1970. For his service, SP4 Nuzum was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Commendation Medal with two overseas bars.
Mr. Nuzum was Protestant.
Surviving are a son, David Sobczak, of Pittsburgh; a brother, Joseph Nuzum of Washington; two sisters, Charlene Paluda of Washington and Susie Bowman of Canonsburg; and nieces and nephews, Robin and Brad Acklin, Ken and Deanna Nuzum, Joe and Sandy Nuzum, Mark and Jill Bowman, and Darla and Jamie Mayle; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at Noon, Monday, July 26, 2010. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 1:30p.m. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
