Esther Marie Brookman, 80, of Washington, died Monday, October 1, 2007, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a four-year illness.
She was born Mary 22, 1927, in Washington, a daughter of Harold and Alta Hall Haught.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1945, and was head accounting clerk at West Penn Power for 24 years.
For many years, Mrs. Brookman spent winters in Naples, Florida. She enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, quilting and gardening, and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
On July 5, 1946, she married Charles L. Brookman, who died December 31, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Todaro of Washington and Cindy Brookman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a sister, Jane Allan of Amhurst, Massachusetts; a brother-in-law, Charles Eustis; and two granddaughters, Nicole Lynn Todaro and Lauren Noelle Todaro.
Deceased are an infant son, Michael Charles Brookman; and a sister, Shirley Eustis.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2007, with Rev. Larry Wiltrout officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
