Fred Willard Logsdon, 72, of Washington, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in UPMC – Shadyside.
He was born December 23, 1937, in Washington, a son of George Willard and Wilma Ethel Sim Logsdon.
Mr. Logsdon was the founder of Classic Coach Works. He enjoyed wood carving and being with Heidi, his beloved dog, and Punkin, his beloved cat.
Mr. Logsdon served in the Pennsylvania National Guard before joining the Army and serving in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, one for injuries resulting from his helicopter being shot down.
Mr. Logsdon was a member of Oglebay Wood Carvers Guild as well as American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 and 40/8.
On June 15, 1980, he married Vickie McCloskey, who survives.
Also surviving are four children.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
A memorial service for Fred Willard Logsdon will be held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post 639.
