Ethel S. Bungard, 95, of Washington, died Friday, May 15, 2009, in the Washington Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born November 29, 1913, a daughter of J. Frank and Anna Dora Clark Neebling, and grew up on a farm in the Bower Hill area of Peters Township.
Mrs. Bungard was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, animals, reading, needlework, cooking, and baking pies, buns and cookies.
On November 29, 1929, she married Alexander Burnell Bungard, who died January 26, 1982.
Surviving are a son, John D. Bungard of Washington; a daughter, Marilyn (Stephen) Frost of Elwood City; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Bungard of Canonsburg, formerly of McDonald; 10 grandchildren, Marlene Bungard, Cathleen Mintz, Frank (Maria) Bungard, John E. Bungard, Mark D. Bungard, James E. Bungard, Judy Bungard, Debbie Bungard, Mary M. Frost and Michael J. Frost; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Deceased are two sons, Alexander F. Bungard and James C. Bungard; a sister, Ruth Nuzum; and two grandchildren, Alexander F. Bungard II and Anna Marie Frost.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2009, with Rev. Dr. Roger Raymond Fischer officiating.
