Nicholas Zullo, 92, of Washington, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, in Donnell House, following a three-year illness.
He was born October 10, 1916, in Barnsboro, Cambria County, a son of John and Florence Philomina Rick Zullo.
A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Zullo survived the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He then served on islands in the Central Pacific where he was involved in ground combat. For his service, he was awarded the American Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
For more than 20 years, he worked as a manager at General Cryogenics.
Mr. Zullo was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Disabled American Veterans and a life member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
On March 31, 1943, he married Eva Marie Jarvis, who died May 20, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Nick J. Zullo of Prosperity and Dennis A. Zullo of Chiloquin, Oregon; a daughter, Lisa Gnegy of Washington; seven grandchildren, Chet Gnegy, Mariah Gnegy, Eva Gnegy; Nick Jon Zullo, Cassandra Georgetti, Dennis Zullo and Robert Zullo.
Deceased are six brothers, Charles, Anthony, Albert, James, Mike, and Leonard; and four sisters, Helen, Dorothy, Romaine and Lucy.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 10th. Military rites will be accorded after the Blessing Service at the funeral home by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
