Rev. Harold Orr

Rev. Harold Orr, 81, of Washington, died Thursday, November 15, 2007, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a 22-month illness. He was born April 17, 1926, in Allerton, Iowa, a son of Rev. Harvey J. Orr and Ina Marie Sterrett Orr. Mr. Orr graduated from Lincoln High School in Midland and from Geneva College in Beaver Falls. He completed seminary work through the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and then served as a Presbyterian minister. Mr. Orr served in the Army during World War II. He trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and then served in England, France, Belgium and Austria. Mr. Orr served as chairman and treasurer of the Red Cross board in Washington and had been chairman of the Lions Club in Marion Center. He was a member of Church of the Covenant. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Rosalind Jean Stewart Orr, whom he married August 24, 1954. Also surviving are one son, John S. Orr of Raleigh, North Carolina; two daughters, Mary L. (Jerry) King of Eighty-Four and Rebecca J. (Thomas) Potter of Derwood, Maryland; a sister, Ina Rose White of East Liverpool, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Susanna L. King and Lillian J. Potter. Deceased are two brothers, Carroll Conrad Orr and Gail Reed Orr; and two sisters, Lorna Marie Wilson and Helen Lucille Schaffin. Friends will be received Noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2007, with Pastor Randy Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Covenant, 267 East Beau Street, Washington PA 15301.
