Elizabeth Macanga Kozdra, 84, of Meadow Lands, died unexpectedly at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2004, in Canonsburg General Hospital. She was born July 31, 1920, in Meadow Lands, a daughter of Martin and Anna Szafraniec Macanga. Mrs. Kozdra was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church of Washington. She formerly was employed as an assembler at RCA in Meadow Lands. On December 26, 1942, she married Joseph John "J.K." Kozdra, who died May 30, 1990. Surviving are two sons, Joseph John Kozdra Jr. of Washington and Alan M. Kozdra of Meadow Lands; a daughter, Rebecca A. Kozdra of Washington; three sisters, Anna Skowvron of Houston, Edna Kawalski and Gertrude Hodor, both of Washington; eight grandchildren, Jolynn Rakosi, Kathleen I. Brown, Kristie Sanders, Paul J. Kozdra, Jennifer and Thomas J. Plunkett, Janice A. Beabout and Jeffrey A. Kozdra; and 12 great-grandchildren. Deceased are two brothers, Rudolph, who died in infancy, and Edward Macanga; and two sisters, Florella, who died in infancy, and Josephine Watsula.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 9, in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. John Mack as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
