U.S. Army vet served in WWII, worked for Duquesne Light. Thomas Gerard Harris, 88, of Canonsburg, died Monday, October 4, 2004, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born January 8, 1916, in Pittsburgh, a son of Thomas Francis and Nellie M. Hefferman Harris. Mr. Harris worked as a lineman for Duquesne Light for 42 years. He attended St. Patrick Church and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electricians. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Mt. Washington. Mr. Harris was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, being stationed in India. On September 3, 1942, he married Eleanor M. Fix, who died in 2000. Surviving are three sons, Thomas A. Harris of Washington and Michael C. and Robert P. Harris, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren, Thomas, Stephanie, Kimberly, Michael, Daniel and Jonathan; and four great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Daniel G. Harris; a brother, John Harris; two sisters, Elizabeth Doyle and Mary Rode; and a grandson, Michael Harris. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 8.
