Robert Interval, 82, of Washington, died Friday, January 11, 2008, in Donnell House, following a lengthy illness.
He was born October 13, 1927, in Washington, a son of Joseph and Antoinette Bari Interval.
Mr. Interval was a long-time, self-employed private security officer. He had also worked for the City of Washington as the head of the street department for ten years, at Hazel-Atlas, and as a barber at Disaro Barber Shop.
Mr. Interval enjoyed bowling at the Alpine and playing bingo. He was a member of Christian Church of North America, Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion for 25 years, and a lifelong member and officer of the Alpine Club.
Mr. Interval was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from November 27, 1945, until his honorable discharge on October 16, 1947 as a Fireman, First Class. His awards include the American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon. After is discharge from active duty, Mr. Interval served in the Navy Reserves until April, 1953.
On June 16, 1951, he married June Elizabeth Abrams, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dr., Robert John Interval of Phoenix, Arizona, and Joseph Michael (Christine) Interval of Washington; two daughters, Toni Brezinski and Nena Interval (Charlie Wade), both of Washington; one sister, Millie Bohus of Phoenix, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Dr. Chad (Missy) Brezinski, Dr. Kellie Brezinski (Andy), Georgianne (Joe) Martin, Brea Lynn Interval (Lenny), Gia Marie Interval, Matthew Abbondanza, Robert John Interval II, and Amanda Interval; and five great-grandchildren, Julia, Jordan, Lily, Chloe and Luke.
Deceased are several siblings, including Joseph Michael Interval II and Antony “Kag” Interval.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2008, with Rev. Rob Burk officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery
