Washington Penn Plastics retiree served in Korean War.
Robert Melvin Rush, 73, of Washington, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004, in his home following a two-year illness.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Washington, a son of John Raymond and Osa Leona Teagarden Rush.
Mr. Rush worked at Hazel-Atlas Plant 2 and Continental Can Glass until 1964, after which he worked at Washington Penn Plastics as a foreman, retiring in 1993.
He also had been employed at Warco-Falvo Funeral Home.
He attended both Washington and Trinity high schools.
He enjoyed CB radio; his handle was Honcho.
Mr. Rush was a member of North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company and served in Korea in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received a Korean Service medal with one bronze star, a Good Conduct medal, United Nations Service medal and National Defense Service medal.
He was a member of Edgar Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, Washington.
On January 28, 1956, he married Camilla Peryl Wojcuich, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Barry Gordon Rush of Canonsburg and Robert Troy Rush of Washington; two daughters, Debra Lynn Rush of Memphis, Tenn., and Judy Kay Kiskadden of Washington; three sisters, Hilda Daugherty of Canton, Ohio, Shirley Comfort of Washington and Sara Rush of Washington; seven grandchildren, Amanda Ammer, Karli, Paige and Kortney Kiskadden, Debra and Calyn Rush and Enre Pickett; and a great-grandchild, Lesae Lacks.
Deceased is a brother, Raymond Gene Rush.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, followed by interment in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
