David William Nixon, 54, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004, following a brief illness. He was born November 6, 1949, in Washington, a son of Geraldine Grace Murray Nixon, with whom he made his home, and the late Walter LeRoy Nixon Sr. A McGuffey High School graduate, he was Protestant. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany, receiving National Defense Service Medal, Expert M-14 and M-16 Rifle medals and Good Conduct Medal. An employee of Federal Paper, Mr. Nixon was a member of Moose Lodge 22 and James R. Post American Legion Post 639 in Claysville. He enjoyed working outside his home. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are several cousins. A brother, Walter L. Nixon Jr., is deceased.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 17, with the Rev. Mary Sprowls officiating. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery, with Claysville American Legion Post 639 according full military honors graveside.
