William E. Rush. 83, of Washington, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 26, 2007, in Shadyside Hospital.
He was born in Washington on February 6, 1925, a son of James Russell and Lana Lee Fox Rush.
Mr. Rush was a 1943 graduate of Trinity High School and served in the United States Army in World War II, having participated in the Battle of The Bulge and D-Day. He is a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 of the American Legion.
After working more than thirty years as a finisher at Washington Steel Corporation, he retired in 1986.
For many years, he was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church and served as a Trustee and Deacon.
On August 14, 1946, he married Doris Hughes who survives. Also surviving are; a son, John Wm. ( Donna ) Rush of New Concord, Ohio; a daughter Linda Lee Anderson of Evans City; a sister Dottie Legerski of Washington; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are a brother, John Rush who was killed in action in World War II in 1943, and a sister, Mary Passaro.
Friends of William E. Rush. 83, of Washington, who died on Saturday, April 26, 2007, will be received on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family is requesting Memorial Donations made to the Fourth Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1000 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
