Longtime Washington Hospital registered nurse
Helen Joy Lazek, 77, of Washington, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a six-month illness.
She was born June 18, 1929, in Washington, a daughter of Jack P. and Mary C. Krugle Kelley.
Mrs. Lazek graduated from Washington High School and Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse in the delivery and maternity ward of Washington Hospital for 42 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, auctions, family gatherings and especially her grandchildren.
On April 18, 1952, she married John J. Lazek, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jack (Michelle) Lazek of Manifold and Jeffrey Lazek of Meadow Lands; two daughters, Jane (Scott) Neal and Josephine Lazek, both of Washington; a brother, Jack Kelley of Washington; a sister, Rose Kelley of Washington; eight grandchildren, Jacob Lazek, Randall, Adam and Christina DeBolt, Samantha Neal, Donald Wilcox and Lucas and Noah Lazek; and a great-grandchild, Jayda Marie Lazek.
Deceased are a sister, Jane Julos; and two infant brothers, Jack Edward and James Robert Kelley.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 10, with the Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
