Washington High graduate served in World War II
Duane Fordyce Scott, 82, of Washington, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in his home.
He was born April 9, 1922, in Washington, a son of Brantley Goodwin and Edith Fordyce Scott.
Mr. Scott received his diploma from Washington High School in 2002.
He served as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
Mr. Scott was employed as a maintenance worker for Hazel-Atlas and Brockway Glass for 38 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington, where he served on the church board, and was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
Mr. Scott enjoyed boating and fishing.
On April 5, 1945, he married Ruth Brown, who died February 2, 1995.
Surviving is a cousin, Patti George.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, is a brother, Charles Scott.
SCOTT - Friends of Duane Fordyce Scott of Washington, who died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m., the hour of services, Saturday, June 26, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, with the Rev. Steve Bortzman officiating. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery.
