Mary Elizabeth Filby, 77, of Hollywood, Florida, formerly of Washington, died Monday, September 27, 2004, in Aventura Hospital, Aventura, Florida following a month long illness.
She was born in Washington on July 14, 1927, a daughter of William and Sadie Eckles Filby.
She was a Washington High School graduate and had been a short order cook having once worked at the Victory Diner. Miss. Filby was a member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed attending church and reading.
Surviving are the following nieces; Dianne Buchannan, Bertha Herceg,, Melony Riggans, Wendy Pendland, and Wilma Obney, and the following nephews; William Morris, Sr., Charles Jeffery Morris, Sr., John Filby; thirty-one Great Nieces and Nephews; sixteen Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.
She is preceded in death by a brother George Filby, a sister Viola Morris, a Nephew James Morris, Jr., and a Great-Great Nephew Robert James Pendland.
Friends of Mary Elizabeth Filby, 77, of Hollywood, Florida, formerly of Washington, will be received on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at 1:00 pm, Major Robert Carney officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
