Cleo Irene Hickman Nelan, 65, of Eighty Four, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2004, in Donnell House, Washington. She had been ill since December 2003. She was born August 24, 1939, in Washington, a daughter of Clifford Bertram and Alta Irene Clutter Hickman. Mrs. Nelan was a 1957 graduate of Trinity High School and had been employed for several years by Agway in Eighty Four. She was Presbyterian. Mrs. Nelan enjoyed gardening and quilting. On December 18, 1984, she married James W. Nelan Jr., who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert Allen Phillips Jr., husband of Charlette of Republic; two daughters, Cheryl Beggs, wife of Samuel, of Dilliner, and Carla Cowger, wife of William, of Fredericktown; a stepdaughter, Rebecca S. Baker of Brookville, Fla.; a brother, Harry Clutter of West Mifflin; a sister, Mona Lee Sanders of Prosperity; six grandchildren, David, Jeremy, Billy, Angela, Cecelia and Justin; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Raven; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Douglas Scott Phillips; and two brothers, who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 4, with Pastor Michael D. Sanders officiating.
