Elvira Elizabeth Spossey Mancuso

IC rectory cook Elvira Elizabeth Spossey Mancuso, 87, of Washington, and formerly of Morgantown, W.Va., for 19 years, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness. She was born April 10, 1916, in Brier Hill, a daughter of Anthony and Rose Golemma Spossey. Mrs. Mancuso graduated from Redstone High School. She was employed at Morgantown Shirt Factory for five years, clerked and managed in the children's clothing department of Bon-Ton for 17 years, and was a cook at the Immaculate Conception Church rectory for more than 10 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was a member of Catholic Daughters Council 1651, Christian Mothers and Ladies of Charity, and she was a member of Columbiana Federation of Italian American Association in Morgantown. On November 12, 1934, she married John Mancuso, who died September 16, 1966. A brother, Anthony Spossey of Syracuse, N.Y., survives. Deceased are three brothers, Louis and Alfred Spossey, and an infant brother; and five sisters, Carmella Molla, Irma Manti, Mary Sardella, Mildred Thomas and an infant sister. MANCUSO - Friends of Elvira Elizabeth Spossey Mancuso of Washington, formerly of Morgantown, W.Va., died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Friday, May 9, in Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. William Feeney as celebrant. Interment will be in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, W.Va. Christian Mothers will hold a service at 4 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301.
