Mary Ellen King, 90, of Avella, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2003, in her home.
She was born January 25, 1913, in Rea, a daughter of Worthington and Anna Holmes Fowler.
Mrs. King attended Hickory High School and was a member of West Middletown Christian Church.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and farming.
On September 21, 1933, she married James Wilson King, who died January 5, 1964.
Surviving are three sons, James David and Robert Jackson King, both of Avella, and Donald Ray King of Washington; three daughters, Ruth Marlene Wade of Stow, Ohio, Shirley Ann Kelley of Avella and Margaret Louise (Peggy) DiGiacinto of Wellsburg, W.Va.; a brother, Harry David Fowler of Rea; six sisters, Anna Faye Milvet of Rea, Emma Starnisky and Martha Collins, both of Avella, Edna Pepe of Follansbee, W.Va., Elsie Buchanan of Bethany, W.Va., and Ruth Stalkovich of Aliquippa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three sons, William Jackson and Albert Dean Fowler and a son who died in infancy; a grandson, James Everett Kelley III; and a sister, Edith Fisher.
KING - Friends of Mary Ellen King of Avella, who died Monday, November 3, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 6, with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Three Rivers Hospice, Empire Building, Second Flood, 3001 Jacks Run Road, White Oak, PA 15131.
