Margaret M. Kovatch

Margaret M. Kovatch, 79, of Canonsburg, formerly Meadowlands, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, in Presbyterian Senior Care. She was born September 10, 1929, in Meadowlands, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Giovanninni. Mrs. Kovatch was a graduate of Chartiers Houston High School and a member of Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. She was a member of Christian Mothers Guild in Meadowlands, a past member of Business and Professional Women, and past Democratic Committee Women. Mrs. Kovatch was owner of Kovatch Catering. On June 21, 1947, she married Robert J. Kovatch, Jr., who died September 10, 2000. Surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth Haislip, of Fairmont, WV, Kathy Fox, of Pittsburgh, Terri Thompson, of St. Louis, MO, and Karen Stein, of Washington; and five grandchildren, Caron Gavrich, Robert Haislip, Maggie Haislip, Ryan Stein and Sara Stein; and a great granddaughter. Deceased are four brothers, Rudy, Martin, Paul and Pete Giovanninni; and three sisters, Cleda Simpson, Tillie and Anne. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 22, 2009, with the Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery.
