Shirley Fay Parkinson

Shirley F. Parkinson, 68, of Washington died Saturday, August 2, 2003 in the Donnell House following a lengthy illness. She was born in Old Concord on January 11, 1935 a daughter of Fred and Mary Phillips Johnson. She attended Trinity Schools. Mrs. Parkinson had worked as a Housekeeper at Presbyterian Medical Center for more than 15 years and belonged to SEIU Local # 1199, having once served as Shop Steward. Previously, she had worked at Brockway Glass # 7, The Meadows Racetrack, Tower Restaurant, and was an Avon Representative for over 30 years. On February 28, 1953 she married Jack William Parkinson who died on April 17, 2000. Surviving are a son, William Parkinson of Bentleyville; two daughters, Jackie Blumentritt of Claysville, and Shirley Alterio of Canonsburg; a brother Jack Mills of Ravenna, Ohio; two sisters, Carol Mills of Ravenna, Ohio and Evie Suddoth of Follansbee, West Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Deja, Joshua, Julia, Nicole, Jason, Jennifer, Dylan, Ethan, Evan, Samantha, Abygaile, Will, and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Tom and Sonny Johnson. Friends of Shirley F. Parkinson, 68, of Washington who died Saturday, August 2, 2003 will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington where services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert M. Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
