Kathleen R. Grella

Kathleen R. Grella, 61, of Washington, died Monday, June 1, 2009, in her home. She was born November 19, 1947, in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Donald and Margaret Gray. She received her bachelor’s degree in French and English, and a minor in music, from West Liberty State College She was an active member and past senior warden of Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington. Kathy sang in the Ohio Valley Chorale, where she met her husband, Frank, and performed with the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh for 14 years. She sang with the Three Rivers Choral Society and directed the choirs of Immaculate Conception and Trinity Episcopal churches. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word puzzles. On August 14, 1971, she married Frank J. Grella, Jr., who survives. Also surviving are two children, Christopher and wife Katie of South Fayette Township, and Jennifer Martino and husband Aron of Cranberry Township; three grandchildren, Kyra and Ryann Martino and Annemarie Grella; and one brother, David Gray of Fairmont, West Virginia. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 4th, in Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5th, with Rev. Karen Stevenson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 550 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301, or Family Hospice, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh PA 15243.
