Mabel Brookman

Mabel Brookman, 96, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, in Washington County Health Center. She had been in declining health for the past two years. She was born August 16, 1912, in Washington, a daughter of George Edward and Sarah Viola Craig Miller. Mrs. Brookman was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, and roses. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. On January 18, 1937, she married William H. Brookman, who died July 31, 1978. Surviving are a son, David W. (Mary Anna) Brookman of Morgantown, West Virginia; a daughter, Shirley (Jim) Grimm of Washington; two brothers, Ed Miller and Cecil Miller, both of Washington; a sister, Nellie Ashmore of Washington; four grandchildren, Tammy Grimm Byrd, James H. Grimm IV, Tessa Brookman and Sadie Brookman; and four great-grandchildren, Robert and Ryan Byrd, and Sierra and Logan Grimm. Deceased are four brothers, George, Carl, Gale and Herb Miller; and two sisters, Anna Mary Hunter and Lucille Tiano. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 31st. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
