Walter Minton Dille, 82, of Washington, died Thursday, October 2, 2008, in the Washington Hospital.
He was born June 15, 1926 in the Washington, a son of Walter E. and Della Jordan Dille.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1944. Mr. Dille joined the Army Air Forces on December 19, 1945. He served as a military policeman during the Occupation of Japan and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal. Mr. Dille was honorably discharged as a corporal on January 7, 1947.
Mr. Dille was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. Over the years, Mr. Dille served as a Deacon, Trustee and Elder. He retired from Cooper Industries in 1989, after 42 years of service. Throughout his life, Mr. Dille enjoyed bowling, golfing and vacationing with his family and friends.
He and his surviving spouse, Edna Martin Dille, would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 20, 2008.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Allen Dille of Pittsburgh and Steven Craig Dille of Berkeley, CA; one daughter, Lisa Lynn Kohn of Claysville; six grandchildren, Michael and Paul Dille of Pittsburgh, Spencer and Gavin Dille of Berkeley, CA, and Karen and Kacee Kohn of Claysville; and two nephews, Charles Meyers of Oklahoma and Richard Meyers of Georgia.
Deceased is a sister, Helen Meyers.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Noon to 2 p.m., the hour of service, Saturday, October 4th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Rev. Dr. Roger Raymond Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
