John Ebenezer “Ebbie” Fields, 76, of Washington, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a six-month illness.
He was born August 18, 1932, in Cresson, a son of John Newton and Mildred M. Jones Fields.
Mr. Fields graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Agriculture. He was self-employed at Field’s Implement Store in Eighty-Four, a farm equipment company started by his father in 1939.
Mr. Fields was a member of the Farm Bureau Advisory Council, Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM, Washington Royal Arch 150, Royal and Select Master Masons – Council 1, Syria Shrine Temple in Pittsburgh, and Jacques de Molay.
Mr. Fields was Lutheran.
On July 27, 1957, he married Mary M. Maurer, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John K. Fields of Washington; a daughter, Janice (Keith) Weis of Omaha, Nebraska; and a grandchild, Logan Weis.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
