Margaret Doman Byers, 93, of Washington, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, in her residence.
She was born February 13, 1915, in Washington County, a daughter of William and Anna Blayney Eckles.
After the death of her parents when she was twelve years old, she and her twin George were raised by Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Atkinson in Ohio County, West Virginia.
Mrs. Byers was a 1933 graduate of West Liberty (WV) High School and a 1935 graduate of Penn Commercial. She worked at various offices in Washington until her retirement. Mrs. Byers was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church and was a volunteer at Washington County Health Center for 20 years.
On November 11, 1936, in West Alexander, she married James W. Doman, who died November 25, 1964.
Surviving are three sons, Harold (Shirley) Doman, Samuel (Pat) Doman, with whom she made her home, and Daniel (Ellie) Doman, all of Washington; one daughter, Carolyn (James) Ammons of West Alexander; 11 grandchildren, David, Richard, Tracie and Robert Doman, Denise Beck, James W. Doman, Jeffrey, John and Mike Ammons, Angela Bononi, and Mark Doman; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two grandsons, Brian Doman and infant Paul Doman; one sister, Clara Wrightson; and her twin brother, George Eckles.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Graveside services in Washington Cemetery will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, with Rev. John Hoffman officiating. (Family and friends are asked to meet at 2:15 p.m. at the Old Entrance of the Cemetery.) In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, 160 Jefferson Avenue, Washington PA 15301, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
