Robert Fletcher Ganier, 87, of Washington, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005, in Rest Haven Personal Care Home, Canonsburg, following a monthlong illness. He was born November 18, 1917, in Washington, a son of LeRoy Edward and Goldie Florence Earley Ganier. Mr. Ganier was a high school graduate and studied at an electrician school. He was an electrician at Brockway Glass. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea and Luzon. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Unit Plaque, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars. Mr. Ganier was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church, BPOE 776 and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. He enjoyed fishing, golf and bowling. On May 16, 1946, he married Frances Irene Foster, who died January 9, 2001. Surviving are a niece and a nephew. A brother, John Edward (Jack) Ganier, is deceased.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 17, with the Rev. David Mansfield officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
