Richard James (Rick) Strope, 45, of Eighty Four, died unexpectedly at 7:48 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005, in his home. He was born in Washington, a son of Richard Lee Strope of Washington and Charlene Louella Nuzum Strope Paluda of Washington. Mr. Strope was a self-employed cabinetmaker. He belonged to Jessop Employees Club. He was the former owner of K&G Pizza in Avella. Mr. Strope enjoyed computers, football and hunting and collected Elvis memorabilia. He played football and wrestled at the state championship level. He was a graduate of Washington High School. His companion was Patricia Diley of Eighty Four. Surviving are two daughters, Kimberly Anne (James) Johnson and Ginger Marie Strope, both of Washington; two sisters, Robin (Brad) Acklin of Burgettstown and Cheryl (Scott) Putnam of Washington; two stepsisters, Ruthann (Rich) Cleveland of Washington and Jill (Kevin) Snyder of Columbus, Ohio; a grandson, Joseph Lee Johnson; two granddaughters, Sheridan Johnson and Savannah Johnson; a maternal grandmother, Clara Reed of Washington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Deceased is a paternal grandmother, Flossie Strope.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Kurt Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
