Dorothy Mae McMullen, 89, of Washington, died Monday, September 22, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 11, 1919, in Snowden Township, Allegheny County, a daughter of George A. and Sarah Frances Beam Hall.
Mrs. McMullen was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers as well as cooking, baking, sewing, solving crossword puzzles and reading newspapers.
She was Protestant.
On May 6, 1939, she married Walter A. McMullen, who died August 26, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, George A. (Nancy J.) McMullen of Houston and Harold (Sandy) McMullen of Middletown, Ohio; one daughter, Dorothy (John) Zawacki of Claysville; a sister, Ida Belle Moore of Colliers, West Virginia; and six grandchildren, George P. McMullen, Joyce McMullen, Stacey McMullen, Jeffrey McMullen, Amy Powell and J.R. Zawacki; seven great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Deceased are six sisters, Mildred Buchannen, Hilda Holland, Edna Gardner, Sara Belle Hall, Mary Belle Hall, and Alberta McKee; and two brothers, Lemuel Hall and George Hall.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 25th, with Rev. Dr. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
