Janet K. Theakston Thomas, 62, of Washington, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in her residence.
She was born January 8, 1947, in Washington County, a daughter of Willis and Vesta Lane Theakston.
Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of Bentworth High School. For 30 years, she worked at Shop-N-Save, most recently as a meat wrapper, and was a member of the Food and Commercial Workers Union.
She was the first woman deputy in the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
Mrs. Thomas was Protestant.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheryl (Tim) Booher of Washington; a brother, William Theakston of Charleroi; two grandchildren, David and Rachel Booher; and her former husband, William Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
