Carrie B. McCloskey, 82, of Washington, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008, in her home.
She was born March 21, 1926, in Williamsport, a daughter of William and Sadie Fox Bastress.
Mrs. McCloskey graduated from Williamsport High School.
She supported her husband in ministries in Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York.
Mrs. McCloskey worked with many children’s choirs and made a huge impact on all the children that she worked with.
She enjoyed singing and playing the piano; and doing crafts and artwork.
Mrs. McCloskey had several jobs, including a secretarial position for eight years in Wilmington, Ohio schools.
On September 1, 1949, she married Fred William McCloskey, who died September 5, 2008.
Surviving are a son, Rev. Fred W. (Robin) McCloskey, of Washington; a daughter, Natalie (Jimmy) Henning, of Hawesville, KY; a sister, June Silsbee, of Walkersville, MD; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Bethany, Joel, Nathan, and Micah McCloskey, and Chantelle (Niki) Fruge and Marc Fruge; and her sister-in-law, Louise Bastress.
Deceased are her adoptive parents, Raymond and Hilda Bastress; and three brothers, Charles, Sam and Paul Bastress
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2008, with the Rev. Fred W. McCloskey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of The Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
