William Edward Harps, 80, of Claysville, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in his home. He had been in declining health for one year.
He was born November 24, 1927, in Washington, a son of William August and Ethel Haines Harps.
Mr. Harps was an antique dealer and owned and operated Old Pike Antiques for over fifteen years. He frequented all local auctions.
He worked at Washington Used Parts several years ago and also had owned and operated William Harps Towing Service.
Surviving are a son, William E. Harps, Jr., of Washington; two daughters, Shelley Allen and Susan Camden, both of Washington; five brothers, Paul, Carl, and Russell Harps, all of Washington, Glenn and Merle Harps, both of Ocala, FL.; a sister, Ruth Ann Cox, of Anderson, S.C.; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, and his former wife, Jeanine Armstrong.
Deceased are two brothers, Ernest and Allen Harps; and two sisters, Helen Konyk and Mary Workman.
A memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2008, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
