Evelyn Kassouf, 86, of Prosperity, formerly of Cheswick, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, in the Washington Hospital.
She was born October 24, 1922, in Eau Clair, Venango County, a daughter of William Ellis and Lillian Lockard Williams.
Mrs. Kassouf was a graduate Slippery Rock University. A retired schoolteacher, she taught third grade in the Allegheny Valley School District for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Kassouf was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she was involved with the Bible study group, and the Prosperity Homemakers Club.
She especially loved spending time with her great-grandchildren.
On August 22, 1947, she married Fred J. Kassouf, who died March 30, 1987.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen H. (Stephen) Halligan of Prosperity; four grandchildren, Kurt A., Jeremy B. (Jennefer), Amanda C. and Patrick D. Halligan; and eight great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Kenneth Williams.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m., the hour of service, Tuesday, October 28th, in Trinity Episcopal Church, with Rev. Karen Stevenson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 29th, in East Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery, R.D. #2, Route 38, Emlenton PA 16373. Everyone is to meet at the cemetery.
